Who can see and change your website
The levels of access for the people set up for your website, what each lets them do, and how your website's Owner adds, changes and removes people on the People tab.
Everyone set up for your website has their own email address on it and a level of access. From the most access to the least:
- Owner: for the person whose website it is, and its administrator. Emails Stevie any change, approves or cancels the changes that people with Content or Design ask for on that website, adds, changes and removes its people, and looks after its settings, such as where your form messages go, and your billing page.
- Design: everything Content can do, and can also email Stevie the menu, the colours and the footer, how the pages look and are laid out (sizes, spacing, how something sits on a phone), and add, take off or move a whole section of a page: a quote form, a row of features, a strip of photos or a reviews panel, for example.
- Content: can email Stevie changes to the words, the pictures, the news and the documents, in any part of a page.
- Dashboard only: can sign in and see the dashboard, but cannot email Stevie a change.
A person’s access is set website by website: someone who looks after several of your websites is given a level on each, and the Owner of each. Who may approve or cancel a change follows from the levels: Cancelling a change has the rule. Every Stevie plan includes one person who can email Stevie, Content and above, and each additional one is charged a month, free during beta; Dashboard only is free, and the bill follows the People tab from the month someone is added or removed: Prices, packs and tokens says how. Only a website’s Owner sees your billing page and looks after it.
Adding or removing someone
Section titled “Adding or removing someone”The website’s Owner adds, removes and changes people themselves, on the People tab of the dashboard:
- Add someone asks for their name, their email address and their role on the website, and emails them an invitation saying where to sign in, unless you switch that off. Someone given Content, Design or Owner on a website with Stevie also gets one email from Stevie, saying how to ask him for a change; so does anyone whose level is raised to one of those later.
- Edit beside a person changes their name or their level, and Remove inside it takes away their access to the website.
- Resend invite emails someone who has not signed in yet to say again that they can.
An Owner looks after the people on their own website, and can give anyone up to Owner. A website always keeps at least one Owner: the last Owner cannot be removed or given a lower level by anyone in your business, themselves included.
Whenever someone gains or loses the right to email Stevie, or what they may email changes, the website’s Owners and Stillsite support are emailed to say who changed what. If you weren’t expecting one of these emails, tell us straight away through the support form.
What Stillsite sets
Section titled “What Stillsite sets”A few lines on the People tab are ours, and show without Edit:
- Your compliance approver, for a firm with the compliance pack. We name them on your firm’s written word, and change them only the same way, so their access stays while they are the approver.
- Kept by Stillsite, anyone we set up for your website before the People tab was yours.
To change any of these, ask through the support form.
